On January 26th, 2021 The Brigade School @ Whitefield celebrated the 72nd Republic Day of India. The celebrations started with a live online telecast of the Admin Coordinator Mr Varghese Thomas hoisting our beautiful tricolour on the sports field. The students and the staff were waiting with bated breath to watch the online celebrations which started with a melodious rendition of our National Anthem by the students, leaving each member of the audience with a feeling of pride and joy.
Our Principal Mrs Suresh through her address reminded the students about the importance of celebrating our heritage, and remembering the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters that have enabled us to live as proud and free citizens. She motivated the students, the future citizens, to take our nation to greater heights. Through her speech she enthused the audience to renew, recreate and rededicate ourselves in nation-building after the year 2020 taught us about our strength and resilience. Our Principal ended her speech with, ‘In thoughts let us be led by faith. In word let us be guided by wisdom. In deeds let us be driven by our courage.’
The students at The Brigade School @ Whitefield performed the Hindi song ‘Mera Mulk, Mera Desh’ that the audience enjoyed. The song ‘Kannada Rajyotsava Dinna’ which is penned by one of our very talented teachers Mr Ramesh Kashyap was sung harmoniously by our students.
The showstopper was the amazingly crafted presentation about the various aspects of the Indian Constitution. Students from different age groups narrated facts about the influences and the influencers of the Indian Constitution, with emphasis rightly laid on the very powerful and brilliant women whose contributions are very often ignored like Hansa Mehta, Ammu Swaminathan, Rajkumari Amrit Kaur, Anne Mascarene, Sarojini Naidu, Sucheta Kriplani, Vijay Laxmi Pandit to name a few. The narration by the students was supported with remarkable images from our glorious past.
The very talented and graceful dancers of our school presented dances from many states to emphasize and highlight our rich and diverse culture. Vibrantly dressed, they performed the Garba from Gujarat, Kunbi from Goa, Dhunuchi from Bengal, Bihu from Assam, Cheraw from Mizoram, Kathak from Uttar Pradesh, Laavni from Maharashtra, Bharatnatyam from Tamil Nadu, Ghoomar from Rajasthan and Bhangra from Punjab to the foot-tapping number ‘Desh Mera Rangeela’. The glee to be part of the celebrations was quite apparent through their energetic and spirited movements that got the audience clapping in tune.
The programme came to an end but left everyone in the audience feeling positive and hopeful for a brighter future.
