In the universe are billions of galaxies,
In our galaxy are billions of planets,
But there is only one Earth.

“The environment is where we all meet, where we all have a mutual interest; it is the one thing all of us share. It is not only a mirror of ourselves but a focusing lens on what we can become.” — Speech at Yale University, White House Diary, Oct. 9, 1967.

The Brigade School @ Whitefield held a special assembly to celebrate Environment Day. World Environment Day is observed every year as a reminder to maintain our environment and conserve nature for our future generations.

Shreya Shashi of Std 10 highlighted the purpose of World Environment Day, it is celebrated to spread awareness about the current conditions of the environment. People come together to take small steps to improve our future.

Our talented group of singers from Std 4 and 9 conveyed an important message with the song ‘Pass it on Down’ by the Alabama Band.

The students of Std 10 helped us understand the definition, facts, causes, and effects of ‘Global Warming’ with a detailed presentation. The presentation was clear and very effective.

The children did a few of the activities at home. Std 3 and 4 sowed seeds and maintained a journal to record the growth of their seedlings. Std 5 endorsed the constructive idea of reuse and re-purpose by indulging in a bookbinding activity, utilising the pages from their old notebooks. Std 6 and above participated in a poster-making competition and did their share of community work.

All these activities were conducted to instil a sense of responsibility in the students. It taught them to nurture nature and help preserve the environment. The Principal addressed the students and faculty and advised them to take small steps to save and protect the environment. Ved, of Std 10, thanked the students, faculty, and Principal for the opportunity to help conserve nature in so many different ways. He ended the session with a quote by Frank Lloyd Wright “Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you.”
