Report – Republic Day – January 26, 2025
The staff and students of The Brigade School, Whitefield celebrated the 76th Republic Day on the school premises with the unfurling of the flag and a cultural celebration.
Mrs.Menon, Head-Brigade Foundation, unfurled the flag. The members of the KNIB and the members of the Brigade Foundation graced the occasion. The cultural celebration began with the highlights of the Republic Day by students. Students sang the patriotic song, Ek Dwaj Hai Trivarn Ka.The lyrics were written by Mr. B.N. Ramesh, coordinator of the school, and composed by the school’s music teachers. This song captured the spirit of patriotism and national pride. It celebrated the essence of the tricoloured flag, fluttering in the sky as a beacon of hope.
The Republic Day celebration was in sync with the Mind Space Activity for the students of grade 8.It was a continuation of the theme from Steps to Strides – wherein students spoke about the strides our country has made, in the decades after independence. The focus was on ‘India and its Fountain of Youth’ this academic year.
Students reinforced that India is home to a growing generation of young achievers making remarkable strides across diverse fields such as sports, arts, science and technology. These trailblazers exemplify talent and creativity, often breaking barriers to achieve global recognition. India’s young achievers are shaping the nation’s future and making it a hub of innovation and excellence on the global stage.
Students spoke of the achievements of young national heroes who have carved a niche for themselves while chiselling their destinies in various walks of life.
1. Software developer and environmentalist Vivek Gurav – His campaign ‘Pune Ploggers’ was brought to light for making a positive impact on the residents of Pune. Volunteers pick up trash during their morning walk or jog, engaging in a dual purpose – personal fitness and environmental clean-up. Results?Clean streets in Pune!
2. Students spotlighted D. Gukesh’s supremacy at the World Chess Championship in Singapore. They underlined that he is the youngestworld chess champion.
3. Students mentioned the twenty-two-year-old Manu Bhaker, a two-time Olympic medallistwho etched her name in history as the first Indian woman shooter to win an Olympic medal. Students showcased the progressive continuum of Steps to Strides of Indians while displaying allegiance to the motherland.
The pride of being an Indian was celebrated with the song, ‘Tiranga’ from the movie Yodha. The powerful anthem, celebrating the themes of patriotism, sacrifice and unwavering courage, was sung by students of 6-8. It encapsulated the spirit of resilience and determination and evoked the ethos of our motherland.
The programme culminated with a vibrant dance sequence celebrating Republic Day, set to the energetic beats of ‘Jai Ho.’ The dance was a colourful display accentuating the tricolour themes of saffron, white and green with geometric patterns that reflect cultural diversity and unity.
