What is Save Soil Movement?
‘Save Soil’ is a global movement launched by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, the creator of the Isha Foundation. This campaign is to address the soil crisis by bringing together people from around the world to stand up for healthy soil. To help support this campaign, leaders of all nations must institute national policies and actions toward increasing the organic content in cultivable soil. Volunteers from the ‘Save Soil’ forum addressed the students of The Brigade School @ Mahadevapura on 1st June 2022. They helped raise awareness among the students and stressed the importance of conserving our soil. The session began with an introduction to the ‘Save Soil’ initiative. The students were asked many questions –- Why should we save soil?
- What is the difference between sand and soil?
- Why is soil considered important?
Students across Std 4-9 answered knowledgeably and with confidence.
The volunteers played a video where Sadhguru addressed the students. He asked them to find their collective voice and speak for the benefit of mankind and find ways to sustain their future. How lack of organic content turns soil into sand was discussed in detail. The food crisis, water scarcity, loss of biodiversity, and other subjects like climate change and conflict, were also discussed in the session.
