Pre-Primary and Grade 1 Orientation Summary – The Brigade School @ JP Nagar 2025
The meet and greet is the time to welcome both new and returning parents, encouraging productive collaboration. The parent orientation at The Brigade School @ JP Nagar was conducted on 6th June. Pre-primary parents and grade 1 parents attended the orientation in the MLR auditorium in staggered timings.
The programme began with an address by the Principal, Ms Jain, providing insight into the school’s vision and motto. She provided information about general rules and etiquette, also touched upon academic sessions, instructional patterns, and assessments.
Ms. Kudva, curriculum advisor for Pre-primary, introduced the Jumpstart curriculum to the pre-primary parents. The guest speaker for pre-primary & grade 1, Mrs. Phyllis Farias is a trained counsellor and a certified practitioner of Neuro-linguistic Programming.
Pre-Primary
Mrs. Phyllis Farias conducted an informative session for Nursery, LKG, and UKG parents, focusing on key developmental areas—physical, cognitive, emotional, mental and sensorial. She emphasised gross and fine motor skills, speech, intellectual growth and social-emotional development. Parents were advised to respect each child’s individuality, avoid forced learning and empower independence. Mrs. Farias stressed the importance of empathy, toilet training and sending spare clothes. She emphasised not comparing siblings or burdening older children. The session reinforced the need for patient, respectful parenting to support each child’s unique pace and personality.
Std 1 Parent Orientation Session Summary
Phyllis Farias led an insightful parent orientation on holistic child development, focusing on family structures and their influence on a child’s physical, mental, social-emotional and spiritual growth. She highlighted types of families and the importance of love and communication. She stressed physical health, hygiene, cognitive stimulation and limiting screen time. Emotional well-being, empathy and resilience were emphasised through bonding and positive modelling. The session ended with a Q&A, reinforcing parenting as a consistent, nurturing, and evolving journey.
