NURSERY
1. Subject: English
Topic: Letter Sounds ‘s’
Name of Activity: Sand tray tracing
Objectives: To enable children to improve their fine motor skills and develop pre-writing skills.
Description of Activity: Children enjoyed running their fingers through the rough texture of sand to form the letter sound ‘s’, which helped them understand the formation of letters in a fun and engaging way.
2. Subject: Math
Activity: Number 2 (Sponge dabbing activity on a cutout of number 2 placed on an easel board)
Objective: To enable children to identify number 2.
Description of Activity: Children identified and learnt the formation of number 2 through a sponge dabbing activity. This activity helps develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and sensory exploration for young children.
3. Subject: Montessori.
Activity: Putting down a chair.
Objective: To enable children to learn to be independent, show respect for the environment and develop coordination while putting down a chair.
Description of Activity: Through this simple yet meaningful practical life activity, they have developed an understanding of order and precision, which are foundational to Montessori Practical Life Skills. By learning and following the step-by-step process involved in putting down a chair, children gain important cognitive skills, likespatial awareness, sequencing, and problem-solving. This experience has empowered them to act thoughtfully within their environment and take pride in contributing to a calm, organised classroom.
4. Subject: Organised Games
Activity: Island game
Objective: To enable children to develop listening skills, focus and concentration.
Description of Activity: Children had an exciting time playing this game, which needed them to be alert and follow instructions on whether to stand on water or land.
5. Subject: Art & Craft
Activity: Paper Tearing (House Template)
Objective: To enable children to develop fine motor and eye-hand coordination skills.
Description of Activity: The children enjoyed the Paper Tearing Activity as they completed a collage on the house template.
This activity helps children develop their fine motor skills for future learning.
