Grade 1 Composite Science Activity
“My Body Needs Food”
As part of the lesson “My Body Needs Food,” the students of Grade 1 had an exciting, hands-on learning experience when a vegetable vendor visited the school with a cart full of fresh vegetables.
The colourful display instantly caught the children’s attention — shiny tomatoes, crisp beans, plump potatoes, leafy greens, and juicy fruits made the lesson come alive! The teacher showed the children each item, sharing its name. The little learners eagerly interacted, asking questions about the vegetables, their colours, and even their prices.
Teachers guided the children in understanding how these fruits and vegetables help us stay healthy and strong, giving us the energy we need to play and grow. The students also watched how the vegetables were weighed and measured, and some even tried their hands at placing items on the weighing scale!
The visit beautifully reinforced classroom learning with real-life experience. It was a joyful, colourful, and engaging way for the children to understand the importance of eating fresh fruits and vegetables — truly a feast of fun and learning!
