Celebrating Karnataka’s Rich Heritage –
Kannada Rajyotsava 2025 at The Brigade Schools
The Brigade Schools in Bangalore came together in spirit to celebrate the vibrant culture, history, and linguistic pride of Karnataka through their Kannada Rajyotsava special assemblies held on 7 November 2025. Across all three campuses, students presented a range of performances that highlighted the richness of the state’s traditions, art forms, and legacy.
At The Brigade School @ Mahadevapura, the programme began with the school prayer, the thought for the day, and the pledge, followed by a warm welcome speech on the significance of Kannada Rajyotsava. The song “Banni Banni Yellaru Kannada Geethe Haduva”, written by Mr Ramesh Kashyap, Coordinator for Grades 4 to 8 at The Brigade School, Malleswaram, was melodiously rendered by the students of Grades 1 to 3. A lively quiz on Karnataka’s historical dynasties kept the audience engaged, while a vibrant dance tribute to Nadaprabhu Kempegowda – the founder of Bengaluru – stood out as the highlight of the event. The assembly concluded with the vote of thanks and the National Anthem.
The celebrations at The Brigade School @ Malleswaram showcased Karnataka’s diversity under the theme One State, Many Worlds. Students brought the state’s cultural tapestry to life through folk dances, skits, and an action song. They performed “Banni Bannirellaru Kannada Geethe Haaduva”, written by Mr Ramesh B. N., and presented fusion dances representing Yakshagana, Kollata, Ummathat, and Dollu Kunitha. Skits such as Gandharva Sena, along with another depicting village life, further highlighted Karnataka’s traditions. A colourful fashion show featuring attire from various occupations added charm, while Vijayanagara Vaibhava celebrated the grandeur of the Vijayanagara Empire through a powerful musical performance.
At The Brigade School @ J.P. Nagar, the assembly opened with a thoughtful narration by the student comperes, who shared insights into Karnataka’s formation and the importance of the Kannada language. Students sang “Banni Banni Ellaru Kannada Geethe Haduva” with great enthusiasm, once again honouring the work of Mr Ramesh Kashyap. A moving dance-drama portraying the valour and sacrifice of Onake Obavva captivated the audience with its energy and emotional depth. The event concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, delivered by Achintya of Grade 3B, who expressed gratitude to the Principal and the management for their constant support, encouragement, and the opportunity to perform.
Across all three branches, the Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations were a true tribute to Karnataka – its language, legacy, and cultural brilliance. The performances by the young students not only showcased their talent but also instilled pride and admiration for the rich heritage of the state.
