Little Learners in Action: Nursery Highlights – February 2026
Through playful and hands-on activities across various subjects, The Brigade School made the month of February an exciting one for the Nursery students.
In English, children worked with the letter sounds j, z, and w through a colourful matching activity. Using flower petals with pictures, they carefully matched images to the correct letter sounds. This activity helped strengthen their visual discrimination, vocabulary, and memory skills while making phonics learning enjoyable.
During Math, students practised identifying shapes by placing the correct shapes onto a tree cut-out displayed on an easel board. This helped the students develop better visual recognition and confidence while they studied early mathematical concepts.
In Montessori, children participated in a practical life activity where they carried a tray with an empty glass. This exercise taught them coordination, concentration, and body awareness. It also taught them to handle objects with care.
The Composite Science activity introduced students to aquatic life. Children coloured sea creatures and created a small underwater diorama while revising the parts of a fish. This creative activity helped them understand marine animals in a fun and interactive way.
The month ended with an energetic Games session where the students enjoyed playing Musical Chairs. The activity encouraged the students to stay alert, listen better, and maintain a friendly composure as they competed to find a chair when the music stopped.
