– To encourage curiosity, observation, and teamwork through hands-on activity.
Description of Activity
The students of Grade 1 participated in an engaging archaeological-style digging activity. A specially prepared sandpit was set up with hidden treasures such as coins, mud pots, and lamps. Each child was given a small tool to carefully dig and uncover the items, simulating the work of real archaeologists.
As they unearthed the treasures, teachers explained how such discoveries in real life help historians learn about ancient civilizations, their culture, and daily life. The children were fascinated to see how simple objects could tell stories about the past.
Learning Outcomes
– Students gained a basic understanding of archaeological surveys.
– They learned that artifacts like coins and pots are important clues to history.
– The activity fostered teamwork, patience, and careful observation.
– Children connected the idea of past and present, realizing how history shapes our lives today.
Student Response
The young learners were enthusiastic and curious throughout the activity. They expressed joy upon finding each treasure and eagerly shared their discoveries with peers. Many students remarked that they felt like “real archaeologists” and enjoyed imagining stories behind the artifacts.
