A Joyful Start to Learning: June Highlights from Kindergarten
The month of June marked an exciting beginning to the new academic year across Nursery, LKG and UKG at The Brigade School. Through a thoughtfully planned range of hands-on activities, children settled into their classrooms with enthusiasm while developing essential academic, social and life skills.
Our Nursery children began their journey with engaging settling-in activities, including puzzles, colouring, building blocks and free play, helping them feel comfortable and confident in their new environment. They also explored the concept of the number 1 through finger painting, learnt grace and coordination through practical life exercises, and enjoyed the Island Game, which encouraged active listening, balance and following instructions.
LKG students participated in a variety of creative and experiential learning activities. They learnt the importance of personal hygiene through a handwashing activity, strengthened fine motor skills by creating bead patterns, explored the concept of the square shape through imaginative monster-making, and enhanced spatial awareness using Montessori materials such as the Pink Tower and Brown Stairs.
In UKG, learning came alive through interactive games and collaborative activities. Children reinforced their understanding of short vowel sounds with the Inky Mouse Activity, built numeracy and problem-solving skills through the One Grey Elephant Balancing Game, and explored the seven continents in an engaging geography game that fostered teamwork, observation and decision-making.
Across all three grades, every activity was designed to nurture curiosity, creativity, confidence and a love for learning. Through play-based and experiential learning, our young learners not only strengthened foundational concepts but also developed valuable life skills such as independence, cooperation, communication and self-confidence. As the academic year unfolds, we look forward to many more enriching experiences that inspire our children to learn, explore and grow together.
