Achieving Greater Heights
I still remember the day I found out I was not selected for the u-13 state camp three years ago. I was extremely disheartened and disappointed.
However, I wasn’t going to let it demoralise me, and I decided to use it as fuel to get better. I decided to practice and work hard to get selected for the u-16 state team.
This year, to my great joy, I played in the u-16 state championship. I was one of the few fortunate players to get selected for the u-16 state camp by playing well in the u-16 state championship this year.
The selection process for the state team is long and tiring. The first step is to get selected for the state camp. State selectors choose players for the state camp by watching their performance in the state championship comprising 50 teams.
The camp comprised around 50 players from teams across Karnataka. Only 12 players get selected for the state team. There is a month-long training camp in which the selectors and coaches observe all the players before selecting the team. There is rigorous practice morning and evening, every single day.
After all this, I was selected for the state team to represent Karnataka in the youth u-16 national championship held in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
I have finally achieved my goal of getting selected for the state team after three years.
I am very excited about representing the state and going to Madhya Pradesh for the nationals. I’m sure it will be a memorable experience.
I am happy, and the feeling of achievement is a great one. However, I do not want to stop at this. I want to keep working on my game and improving my game to achieve greater heights.
I thank my school, The Brigade School@JP Nagar, and my coach, Mr Markesh, for supporting me, training me, and building me as a player. I would also like to thank my parents for supporting and allowing me to play the game I love. Without my school, coach and parents, I would not be the player I am today.
