Dribbling their way to victory!!!

The Brigade School @ J P Nagar participated in the Basketball Tournament conducted by the Smt. Kamalabai Educational Institutions (SKEI) in the girls U-14 category. The tournament held on the 2nd and 3rd of November 2022 was very interesting. The students were thrilled to be part of the same.

The U-14 girls played their first game against the hosts. It was the first interschool match the team was playing this academic year. The team led by Aratrika Pissay of std 8 showcased some good passing techniques resulting in a few quick baskets for the team. The Brigade School team was leading with a score of 6-2 at half-time. They won the match with some quick baskets, winning the game 14-6.

The semi-final against NPS HSR was a good match as both were excellent teams. The Brigade girls were leading 16-14 at halftime when rain interrupted play for 20 minutes. The basketball court was slippery, but the team showed good defense techniques stealing the ball from the opponents. At the end of the third quarter, the score was 27-27.

At the start of the fourth quarter, both teams looked tired as they had missed easy baskets. With 10 seconds left, Aratrika scored four continuous baskets to equalise 31-31, at the end of the regulation time. As the match tied, five minutes of extra time was given to both teams. Aratrika, Boond and Anu scored a basket each to win the game 38-36. It was indeed a close game!

The Brigade girls played the much-experienced DPS North in the finals. Aratrika dominated the game scoring 8 points to lead at halftime. Boond and Anu stepped up their offense and defense to contribute effectively to the score. But the opponents scored three-pointers in a row bringing the game close. With a minute to go, the DPS girls were trailing by 2 points, when Aratrika scored a lay-up shot superbly assisted by Boond. The Brigade School U-14 girls’ team won the tournament 22-18.  Aratrika was adjudged the top scorer of the tournament.
