Class: 10

Subject: Biology

Topic: Nutri-Meal (How healthy is our food?)

A daily lunchbox, when packed thoughtfully, can significantly contribute to a child’s nutritional intake and overall health. Lunchboxes packed from home are not always nutritionally balanced and may lack certain nutrients crucial for growth and development. The students fall short on meeting recommended daily intakes for crucial nutrients such as Iron, Calcium etc.

The students were asked to find out the nutritional content of their daily lunch box and were asked to list down the portion of Carbohydrates, Fats, proteins, minerals & fibres in their food. The students also had to compare their list with the recommended portion of nutrition. The students were also instructed to analyse the nutritional deficiency in their daily food habits and the necessary changes they can make for a healthy well-being.

This activity created awareness in them about the nutritional deficiencies if any in their daily intake and whether their diet is balanced or not.
