The Brigade School@ J P Nagar- Annual Cultural Day 2022-23 (Grades 1-3)
After a two-year hiatus, the students of grades 1-3 celebrated their Annual Cultural Day with joy and enthusiasm on 21/10/2022. The entire auditorium was buzzing with excitement and expectation! In keeping with the theme for the year, Spain, ‘Dia de la Cultura’, was an evening filled with colour and creativity. The children welcomed the audience dressed in the colours of the Spanish flag which definitely added to the merriment and the mood!
The evening began with a welcome speech followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. The school song “O nanna chetana” was sung by our …. (grade) students and the moment was a solemn one. Following this, Mrs. Parthasarathy, the Principal, presented the Annual Report for the academic year.
The cultural programme began with the fashion show- ‘Introduction to Spain,’ an amalgamation of an array of famous sports and dances of Spain, along with an introduction to the different cities and cultures of Spain. This show encapsulated the confidence of the little ones. Following this, was ‘Hola Hola’, a Spanish song by the students of grade 1 who were able to beautifully articulate the Spanish lyrics with ease.
Dance and drama are integral parts of a lively cultural show. Long hours of practice came to perfection on the stage as the students of grades 1 and 2 performed Sardana, a traditional folk dance from Catalonia which is typically danced during celebrations. Next, the students brought to life the play ‘Ferdinand the Bull’ and the histrionics of the bulls and the Matadors, enacted by the students of grade three were professional.
Mama Maria and La Bamba, sung by the students of grades 3 and 2 respectively, transported the audience to an era of soul-stirring, toe-tapping Spanish music. The expressive and lively tempo of Muneira, performed by the students of grade 3, was a fitting finish to the Cultural Day.
It was a wonderfully curated programme that showcased the students’ talents, enthusiasm and versatility!
