June 21st is celebrated as World Music Day or Make Music Day. World Music Day or Fete De La Musique is an annual celebration of music. It is celebrated to highlight the importance of music in our lives and to provide a platform for music lovers to showcase their talent to the outer world.
The Brigade School @ J P Nagar celebrated World Music Day or Make Music Day with great enthusiasm. Students from Std 2 to Std 8 participated and presented a wide variety of music. Children of classes 2 and 3 started the programme with the song “Hello Children of the World”. The song was about saying “Hello” in different languages. Children had a lot of fun performing the beautiful song.
The students also performed songs like “I ‘ll be Right Here Waiting for You” by Richard Marx on the keyboard, “Blues for Beth”, composed by Cornick, was played on the electric piano, the evergreen song “Mere Sapno Ki Rani” was also played on the keyboard.
“I Can’t Wait to be the King” was played on the drums. The performances by the students were exhilarating. A beautiful composition by J.S. Bach and a folk song was played on the violin. Children from Std 5 to 7 used cups to create some exciting and innovative music. The final performance was that of the song “Celebrations” by Cool & Gang, performed by the students of Std 5 to 7.
Overall, it was an enthralling experience to see children so enthusiastic about music. It was comforting to see that even during these trying times, children did get the scope to exhibit their talent and indulge in co-curricular activities.
