The Brigade School @ J P nagar

The Brigade Schools conducted a Special Assembly on World Environment Day. Students of Std 4 to 8 participated in this virtual celebration. The theme of this year’s celebration was Ecosystem Restoration, where the emphasis was laid upon conserving our ecosystem and caring for our environment.

The students of the middle school penned a few acrostic poems on the words Ecosystem and Environment. Much to the delight of the young poets, a few awarded poems were displayed on the screen,

The process of making a bird feeder was demonstrated, emphasising the concept of ‘Best from Waste.’ The Vibrant group dance performed by the students signified the fact that our survival truly depends on nature. A few students, Green Warriors, accentuated the importance of preserving our natural resources. Colourful posters were made and displayed by them.

The Green Crusaders and eminent personalities in our country like Saalumaradha Thimmakka, Sunita Narain and Jaydev Payeng, who have gone that extra mile to protect nature, were introduced to the students. Lake restoration or rejuvenation of lakes was the highlight of the show.

The revival of the Puttenahalli Lake in J.P. Nagar, under the able guidance of Mrs Usha Rajappa, was a living and breathing example. Where once there was a mushy dump yard, now there is a gratifying spot, hosting several cultural activities to different age groups. The association has organized many social events in conjunction with other similar bodies to promote the welfare of the lake and its flora and fauna.

An oath was taken on this auspicious day by the students and the staff of The Brigade Schools solemnly pledging to do their bit towards safeguarding our planet.
