Cultural Day Grade 1-3 – 2025-26
The Brigade School, Malleswaram, embarked on a cultural voyage to ‘The Essence of Incredible India-Andhra Pradesh and Telangana State.’ The vibrant, dynamic, and dazzling cultural landscape of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana State was a vivid display, from royal courts and folk legends to tribal rhythms and festive beats.
The students showcased their rich culture through soulful songs, a humorous story, and energetic dances during the Cultural Day for Grades 1, 2, and 3. Elaborate and intricate crafts, along with colourful and picturesque embellishments, were visual treats in the decoration of the auditorium at Chowdiah Memorial Hall, the venue for the event.
The welcome speech by students, the ceremonious lighting of the lamp, reading of the annual report by the Principal, Mr. Joseph, and the Vote of Thanks by Mrs. Murthy, the Coordinator, formed the formal part of the function. The eloquent comperes set the mood for the celebration of the “Rice Bowl of India”.
The cultural pageantry began with a fashion show.
It was a spectacular and panoramic parade of different styles of clothing from antiquity to modernism. It also showcased the use of tools from different eras and regions. Students dressed up as ancient kings, queens, warriors, medieval scholars, poets, merchants, IT professionals, dancers, musicians, and artists walked the ramp with poise and panache. It was a visual treat displaying the artistry and historical heritage.
The students of grades 1 and 2 created a pleasant mood among the audience with “Chinni Chinni Aasa” a melodious Telugu folk song that paints a vibrant picture of everyday life, love, and celebration.
The vibrant folk-dance performance by students of grades 1 and 2 took the audience on a journey through festivals and folk traditions. The spirited steps of Dhimsa, a tribal dance performed in joyful circles, symbolising unity and celebration, were the forerunners of the exuberance of agility. Then came the floral elegance of Bathukamma, where young girls danced around beautifully arranged flower stacks, offering prayers and singing in devotion. Finally, the energy soared with the beats of Bonalu, a dynamic festival dance where the divine feminine is celebrated with fervour, rhythm, and powerful movements.
Students enacted a short skit based on Tenali Ramakrishna, the clever court poet known for his humour and quick thinking. One of his legendary, witty, and humorous tales brought to life on stage made the amused audience burst into peals of laughter.
The little talented singers sailed through a musical voyage celebrating the spirit, language, and heritage of Telugu culture. Students of grades 2 and 3 enthralled the mesmerised audience with the delightful classic “Chitti Potti Chinnari”—a timeless gem of Telugu cinema. The charming melody is a gentle ode to childhood— celebrating its innocence, and the simple joys it brings. The song wove together joy, wonder, and affection, beautifully capturing the excitement of a child’s arrival and the everyday magic of family life. Its heartfelt lyrics echo communal happiness and togetherness that touch hearts across generations.
Students of grades 2 – 3 celebrated the rich cultural heritage of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana State with an invigorating performance showcasing a beautiful blend of traditional art forms—Kuchipudi, highlighting grace and devotion; Kollatam, bringing energy and rhythm through the stick dance; Buttabommalu, delighting with colourful masks and folk storytelling; and the fierce Pulivesham, symbolising strength and protection through a dynamic tiger dance paying tribute to roots and traditions.
All in all, the cultural extravaganza of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana was a dazzling display of a perfect blend of storytelling, tradition, music, and movement!
It was a perfect blend of commitment, coordination, and camaraderie. The backstage crew were the strong pillars of the programme.
Students and teachers worked on props and decorations, relentlessly putting together their ideas, talents, and skills to bring out the vibrant theme for 2025-26!
