Grade 1- Composite Science – Colouring & Drawing candles on a birthday cake.
In a delightful blend of learning and creativity, Grade 1 students at The Brigade School explored the theme “All About Me” by designing their very own birthday cakes—complete with candles to match their age! With crayons in hand and imaginations on fire, each child carefully counted and drew candles on a cake, then brought it to life with vibrant colours and joyful designs.
This engaging activity did more than brighten up the classroom—it integrated Math, Art, English, and self-awareness. As they drew the right number of candles, students reinforced their counting skill. The colouring phase encouraged artistic choices, with students using shades that represented their favourite cake flavours—from classic chocolate to whimsical rainbow!
Beyond the crayons and candles, the activity nurtured fine motor skills and encouraged peer interaction. What started as a simple drawing activity turned into a celebration of self-expression, learning, and joy. It was a sweet reminder that every child brings something unique to the table—and sometimes, learning can be a piece of cake!
