GRADE 1 Composite Science for CBSE

Topic – Green Plants and Woody Plants – Nature Walk

The Grade 1 students set out on a delightful nature walk to explore and understand different types of plants, with a special focus on woody and herbaceous plants. Such hands-on learning experiences help young students connect classroom lessons with the world around them, something that distinguishes The Brigade school as one of the leading CBSE schools in Bangalore.

As they walked through the garden, the children observed tall trees with thick, rough bark. They gently touched and felt the bark, noticing how woody plants have strong, hard stems. They carefully examined the leaves—observing their shapes, sizes, and textures and compared them with the soft, green, and tender stems of the herbaceous plants growing nearby.

The walk turned even more adventurous as the children hopped over exposed roots of large trees. Their excitement doubled when they spotted a few squirrels scurrying up and down the trees. Watching these lively creatures sparked their curiosity about animals that live in and around trees.

Learning came alive as the children saw, touched, and experienced nature firsthand. The walk not only helped them understand the difference between woody and herbaceous plants but also encouraged them to appreciate and care for the natural world around them.

Outdoor activities like this become an important part of the learning experience at our schools in Bangalore, where curiosity, exploration, and real-world observation help children develop a deeper understanding of nature.
