Acids, Bases, and Salts.
On July 27, 2024, the Chemistry class for grade 10 students did an activity centered on “Acids, Bases, and Salts.”
The students actively participated in finding the pH of different samples to assess the strength of acids and bases. Using pH paper, they gained valuable insights into identifying the nature and strength of the given samples. This activity, helped students understand how pH indicators, which are weak acids or bases, undergo a colour change, based on hydrogen ion concentration (pH) in a solution. Moreover, they deepened their understanding of the pH scale, which spans from 0 to 14, with 0 representing highly acidic, 7 as neutral, and 14 as highly basic. Ultimately, this activity effectively empowered the students to skillfully determine the nature and strength of given samples using pH indicators.
