Grade – 2

Subject – Composite Science

Topic – Air

Learning Objective: To learn about Air, its properties and uses.

Description of Activity:

The students brought a variety of reusable household materials, including old keys, plastic spoons, bottle caps and bangles. They creatively transformed these materials by decorating them with bright paints and colourful beads and assembling them into attractive wind chimes.

The activity helped students understand that moving air can make objects move and produce sound. As the breeze passed through their handmade wind chimes, the materials moved and produced different sounds, providing a simple and enjoyable demonstration of the effects of air.

In addition to learning the science concept, the activity encouraged creativity, fine-motor skills, teamwork and environmental responsibility. By reusing everyday waste materials, students also developed an understanding of upcycling and the importance of reducing waste.

Overall, the activity successfully combined scientific learning with creativity and environmental awareness, making the concept of air meaningful, enjoyable and memorable for the young learners.
