Making shapes using a TANGRAM
TBS Students of Grade 3– Chapter Geometry
Objectives: To colour and make a Tangram and to form a specific shape using all seven pieces without any overlap.
About the activity, Tangram is an ancient Chinese geometric puzzle where a square is cut into seven pieces that can be arranged to create different figures. The 7 pieces cut include 5 triangles, 1 square, and 1 parallelogram.
Tangrams are a good tool for developing spatial reasoning and exploring fractions and different geometric concepts including size, shape, congruence, similarity, area, perimeter, and the properties of polygons. It also helps to improve problem-solving, logical thinking abilities, visual-spatial awareness, and creativity.
