Grade 4 – English – The Sun Has Long Been Set
Poetry Meets Art: A Creative Exploration
Our students of Grade 4 embarked on a wonderful journey through words and imagination as they listened closely to the nature-themed poem “The Sun Has Long Been Set” by William Wordsworth.
They reflected deeply on the images, feelings, and sounds it evoked — from the gentle chirping of birds to the peaceful silence of dusk. Inspired by the poem, they created vibrant illustrations capturing the changing colours of the evening sky, the moon and twinkling stars, calm and serene sunset landscapes, and the overall sense of peace and stillness. This creative activity beautifully merged literature with visual arts, allowing students to connect with poetry in a joyful and meaningful way. The joy was evident in every brushstroke — and in every smile!
