Class: 4 Social Science – Political Science – Mock Election Activity
On Monday, January 29th, 2024, Grade 4 students delved into the political process through a Mock Election exercise in their Social Science class. This engaging activity aimed to provide them with an understanding of elections.
The classroom was transformed into a mini-democratic state as candidates vying for various positions addressed their peers formally. Each student acted as a voter and was invited to the mock polling booth to cast their votes into a ballot box. Using their student identity cards as voter IDs and the attendance register as the electoral roll, the students engaged in a realistic simulation of the electoral process.
To enhance the reliability of the experience, students received a mark on their index fingers upon casting their votes, heightening their excitement and interest in the event. This practical exercise enriched their understanding of elections and instilled a sense of civic responsibility and participation.
