Grade 5 Activity Done in Class – Composite Science – Latitude and Longitude

Muskmelon Activity

The students of Grade 5, studying at The Brigade Schools, conducted an activity on a musk melon to have hands-on experience while learning about latitudes and longitudes. This activity added a colourful dimension to learning geography. The muskmelon was used as a representation of the Earth.

Students infused an element of music to learn latitudes and longitudes. The difference between the two was demarcated and understood distinctly through the activity.

The objective of the activity was to enable children to reinforce the concept of latitudes and longitudes.
