Report- Grade 7 – Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe
The MSA literary activity based on the novel Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe was conducted for the students of Grade 7 at The Brigade Schools. The objective of the activity was to enhance students’ appreciation of literature while developing their language, narration, and performance skills.
Students enthusiastically participated by narrating and enacting selected scenes from the story in English, Hindi and Kannada. Through storytelling, dialogue delivery, and short dramatizations, they brought the adventures of Robinson Crusoe to life. The multilingual presentation helped students improve their confidence in speaking and allowed them to explore the story from different linguistic perspectives.
To make the experience more authentic and engaging, students were dressed in costumes representing the period of the story. Their costumes added a realistic touch to the enactment and helped the audience better visualize the setting and characters from the novel.
The activity encouraged teamwork, creativity, and expressive skills. Students used simple props, voice modulation, and gestures to portray the characters and key moments from the novel. Their performances reflected a clear understanding of the plot, characters, and themes of survival, courage, and perseverance.
Overall, the activity was engaging, interactive, and highly enriching. It not only strengthened students’ connection with literature but also helped them develop communication skills and confidence in performing before an audience. The enthusiasm and creativity displayed by the Grade 7 students made the event both enjoyable and memorable.
