Topic: Micro-organisms
Activity: To show the fermentation of dough
Our Grade 8 students swapped lab coats for chef hats as they whipped up some science magic in class!
Armed with yeast, flour, sugar, and warm water, they mixed up a bubbly potion in bottles—topped off with balloons. And guess what? In just minutes, those balloons started to INFLATE!
What caused the balloon to rise? FERMENTATION in action! The yeast gobbled up the sugar and released carbon dioxide, turning a simple mix into a science showstopper. That same process is why your bread, buns, and pizza bases rise so beautifully!
From bubbling bottles to fluffy food facts—it was a fizztastic experience!
