Discovering Shapes, Stillness and Creativity – January 2026
(LKG)
The first month of 2026 at The Brigade School, was all about exploration, creative and concept building for the LKG students.
January was focused on activities that were created to promote mindfulness, strengthen foundational skills and encourage hands-on learning for the students.
The students learnt about the importance of taking occasional pauses, focusing on their breathing and becoming more aware of their surroundings in their Value Education class.
In Mathematics they learnt all about the ‘Oval’ shape through a fun Octopus craft activity, which involved them creating colourful octopuses using oval-shaped cut-outs. This activity further reinforced shape recognition in their minds.
The Hanging Bird Mobile activity made up the Composite Science class for the students. Through this activity the students were able to showcase their creativity and artistic skills. They coloured, assembled and built their own bird mobiles.
This was followed by the Geometric Cabinet activity. This activity pushed the students to not only visually but also physically explore different geometric shapes. This helped be more aware of their surroundings, easily call out the differences between various shapes, and build their muscular coordination.
Overall, the month of January was one of meaningful opportunities for the LKG students where they explored concepts through creativity, calm engagement, and joyful discovery.
