Report on National Mathematics Day
Date: Friday 22nd December 2023
Venue: TBSM AV Room and Library
National Mathematics Day celebrated on the 22nd of December commemorates the birth anniversary of the Indian Mathematical legend, Srinivasa Ramanujan. The Math teachers at the Brigade School @ JP Nagar took to the stage on the 22nd of December 2023 to create awareness on the importance of this special day and to enthuse students to actively engage with Math. This active engagement in the subject took the form of entertaining and informative videos to help students learn about everyday applications of Mathematics and emphasising that Maths is not merely a subject, but a life skill. Filled with humorous twists and wonderful stage presence, the teachers kept the students captivated till the very end.
Students of Std 6 to 11 were enthralled by their teachers through a skit to showcase the fundamental concept of volume, while angles were taught to the Std 1 to 5 through dance postures.
These presentations and videos gave the students a new perspective on Mathematics and helped them understand that Mathematics is an integral part of their lives. This unique approach left a lasting impression in the students’ minds and served as a refreshing break from traditional classroom!
