The Brigade School at J.P. Nagar – Pre-graduation Day on Friday, 10th February 2023

The Brigade School at J.P. Nagar celebrated its Pre-graduation Day on Friday, 10th February 2023, at the MLR Convention Hall.

Mrs Sen, the Coordinator, extended a warm welcome to the gathering. The programme started with the lighting of the lamp by Mrs Shankar, Founder of The Brigade Schools. During this, students of standard 8 and 7 sang the school song, truly befitting for this moment. The Principal, Ms Parthasarthy, addressed the gathering and talked about cherishing the gratifying time spent in the school and the importance of reflecting on one’s experience. She recited the poem ‘Children Are Like Kites’. She stressed how the school not only imparts moral values but also guides students like a beacon in the future.

The Principal spoke about a new initiative from the Brigade Group. In acknowledgement of the milestone of the graduating batch, Brigade Enterprises will welcome students of the ‘Brigade family to approach them for an internship or career opportunities.

Mr Kamath, the Chief Guest, addressed the students and conveyed how artificial intelligence cannot replace human relationships. He spoke to the students on dealing efficiently with different excesses and scarcities, pursuing certain hobbies and sports, etc. He gave an example of the Chinese bamboo that stays dormant for five years and grows suddenly at a furious rate, comparing it to a student’s life. He narrated a beautiful story about time, speed and distance, enlightening the students about how it takes a substantial period in school to build different capabilities and resilience.

Meera Elizabeth Stephen, a student of class 12 spoke about her experience in the school. She recounted her 15 years in the school and talked about how the school provided her with a conducive environment to embrace compassion, learn interpersonal communication and many other qualities.

Mr Christopher Vinod, the parent of Vivian Shaurya Ryan, expressed his viewpoints about the school. He applauded the school for providing holistic development with equal stress on academics and co-curricular activities. To quote Mr Vinod, “the school carries a global outlook with strong middle-class values”. He is thankful that the school has moulded his son to emerge as a young man with an impressive demeanour.

The Founder, Mrs Shankar and The Head of the Brigade Foundation felicitated the subject toppers. Vishnu Iyer gave the valedictory address. He is the winner of the ‘Navaneetan Award’, awarded to the best outgoing student. The students were called onto the stage holding candles in their hands, symbolising the light of knowledge. As the students came up on stage, their photographs were displayed on the screen with captions, filling the air with emotions, memories and more.

It is worth mentioning that the candles used during the ceremony were from an NGO which helps underprivileged women.

The Principal administered the pledge to the students and encouraged them to become responsible citizens of the country.

Our students of standard 8 presented a dance recital. The classical dance forms of Bharatanatyam, Kathak and Mohiniattam were fused to display creativity. This presentation celebrated learning together and from each other. The silent national anthem was a fitting end to this solemn occasion.
