The ‘Save Soil’ campaign’ is a global movement launched by the spiritual leader Sadguru Juggi Vasudev, founder of the Isha Foundation. He embarked on a 100- day motorcycle journey passing through 27 countries to further his cause!
Soil degradation is one of the most pressing ecological challenges of our time. Volunteers from the Isha Foundation requested the Brigade Foundation to hold the event in all their schools.
The ‘Save Soil Campaign’ was held at The Brigade School @ J P Nagar on 2nd June 2022. The facilitators from Isha Foundation, Ms. Vidya and Mr. Abhishek, presented videos on the urgency to reverse soil degradation to save future generations from a food crisis.
The mission is to invoke a conscious approach to save our soil. The Movement’s objective is to show that all citizens want policies that revitalize ecology and the soil. The planet is losing the ability to grow food because of alarmingly rapid soil degradation – 95% of our food comes from the soil.
To invoke a conscious approach among school children, the Isha Foundation has outlined various activities. The students were asked to draw poster, write letters and poems to show their concern for the movement. The students asked pertinent questions showing their understanding of the gravity of the situation. The facilitators collected the letters and the posters and uploaded them before the deadline.
The students enjoyed the activities and pledged to save the soil!
