Battle of Wit and Words – the Intramural Debate Competition
An exhilarating Intramural Debate Competition unfolded on the campus, bringing together eloquent young minds from Grades 9 to 12. Centred on the thought-provoking theme “Herd mentality leads to poor decision-making,” the event provided a powerful platform for students to voice their perspectives with passion and conviction. The participants captivated the audience with articulate arguments, weaving together facts, logic, and persuasive rhetoric in a battle of wits and words.
The rebuttal round was particularly electrifying, as speakers deftly countered opposing views with sharp reasoning and compelling examples. This intense intellectual exchange not only tested the students’ presence of mind but also highlighted their understanding of the topic.
In the end, it was Tanish Thyagasankar of Grade 12A, who clinched first place, impressing all with his incisive arguments. The event was a success, fostering an environment where critical thinking, confident expression, and respectful disagreement thrived. Beyond the trophies and applause, the debate nurtured essential life skills—refining reasoning, enhancing listening, and igniting a spirit of intellectual curiosity among the students.
