FACULTY DEVELOPMENT – THE JOLLY PHONICS WORKSHOP
The Phonics Workshop, held at The Brigade School@ Malleswaram from April 1st to April 3rd, 2024, was successful in helping the teachers implement the Jolly Phonics teaching method. Pre-primary teachers from all three schools were present for the session.
Conducted by Mrs. Leena Nancy, a professional in Jolly Phonics instruction, the sessions aimed to equip the teachers with tools for teaching learning, reading, and writing.
Mrs. Nancy instilled confidence in the participating teachers, emphasising the integration of Jolly Phonics methodologies into classroom practices. The workshop emphasised interactive learning experiences by employing teaching aids to engage children through visual, auditory, and kinesthetic approaches. Mrs. Nancy introduced exercises and do-it-yourself (DIY) activities to capture students’ attention and ensure classroom engagement. The techniques included interactive activities and enhancing the pedagogical skills of the teachers.
Participants acquired invaluable strategies to create a lively Jolly Phonics learning environment. The session served as a platform for collaborative learning, ensuring that teachers learn to use the tools and make phonics instruction engaging and effective.
The Jolly Phonics workshop was interactive, well-structured, and easy to follow, fostering significant skill enhancements. Mrs. Nancy encouraged active involvement, and the teachers received valuable insights into leveraging educational aids to enhance children’s learning experiences. Every activity presented was highly interactive. Additionally, the teachers received guidance on leveraging various educational aids to help children’s learning endeavours.
At the end of the session, the teachers learned tips and tricks to make the classroom lively for children to learn Jolly Phonics in a jolly way.
