UKG August Musings
As the months go by, we are becoming independent and learning to do things by ourselves such as rolling a pair of socks. Now, we can help our parents with some of the household chores! We are also improving our reading skills. In our English class, we are learning the alternative spellings of ‘oa.’ While in our Composite Science class, we worked on seasons and land and water forms. We participated in an interesting activity using water and pebbles to create landforms- it was fun to work with water and sand with our friends!
In our Maths class, we worked with the Abacus to understand the concept of greater and lesser quantities. While in our Montessori class, we worked on Colour Tablets Box 3 to help us identify colours and visually discriminate the different shades in them. We also worked on large number cards to help us recognize the written symbols for the decimal system quantities.
In our APA class, we did a fascinating piece of artwork- we worked with origami paper to create a dancing dragon puppet! It was not only enjoyable to work on this, but it also helped us to improve our eye-hand coordination and fine motor skills. Our two most enjoyable activities were free play to help us build our gross motor skills and the visit to the library to pique our interest in reading! We cannot wait to see what September is going to bring for all of us!
