The Brigade School @ J. P. Nagar Workshop on Printing of the Preamble

The students of Grade 9 participated in an interesting workshop on ‘Printing of the Preamble’. The basic aim of the workshop was to deepen our understanding of the values and principles embedded in our Constitution.

Mr. Vinay, an aerospace engineer is the founder of #Reclaim Constitution. The crux of his project is to preserve our Constitution and how understanding it can help make things better.

He conducted a very interactive and enriching session in which he spoke about how the Constitution was drafted with hundreds of people from diverse backgrounds coming together, holding civil debates, and trying to be the real voice of the people.

He described how every page was handwritten and decorated by some of the best artists in the country. He gave valuable insights about how our Constitution was framed and shared rare footage and audio recordings.

He made students aware of how the state of Karnataka played an important role in the freedom struggle emphasising Kuvempu and Professor H Narsimaiah. He explained in detail what the national flag means to all of us, reading the objective resolution speech of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

The session was highly interactive, with questions directed at the students, encouraging them to be active participants rather than passive listeners. The insights about the significance of our national flag were truly eye-opening.

The beautiful posters that were put up offered a plethora of information. The most exciting part of the workshop was the hands-on activity of printing the Preamble by each student, using woodblock and dye.

The session ended with students holding their Preamble and reading it aloud together.
