Workshop with Dr. Vasanth Kiran- Kuchipudi Training for Brigade Schools

As part of The Brigade Schools’ upcoming annual theme, Dr. Vasanth recently conducted a four-day Kuchipudi workshop, focusing on the rich dance traditions of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The workshop culminated in the creation of an 11-minute choreography, collaboratively performed by the school’s male and female dance faculty—a testament to his ability to inspire, innovate, and elevate classical dance in contemporary educational settings.
Dr. Vasanth Kiran is a renowned Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam dancer, a master of Nattuvangam, an acclaimed choreographer, an inspiring teacher, and a distinguished scholar. Dr. Vasanth Kiran runs Bharata Kala Grama, a residential Gurukulam where he provides rigorous and holistic training in Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam, nurturing the next generation of classical dance artists.
He has been a visiting professor in India, Germany, and France and holds positions on various university boards. Dr. Vasanth has performed in more than 35 countries, spreading the beauty and depth of Indian classical dance.
His acclaimed dance dramas—such as Ardhasaankaram, Panchaarama Kshetram, and Nava Shakti—have graced eminent festivals like Khajuraho, Vedavyasa, Mysore Dasara, and many more.
A prolific composer, he has choreographed over 100 original pieces in Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi, many of which have been released on CD. As a Nattuvanar, he has accompanied leading dancers across prestigious stages, further establishing his mark in the field.
His contributions have earned him numerous accolades, most notably the Central Sangeet Natak Akademi’s Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar (2020), conferred by the Government of India. He is also a nominated member of the Karnataka Sangeetha Nritya Academy, Ministry of Culture, Government of Karnataka.
