Workshop with Master Krishna Kumar – Karra Samu Training for Brigade Schools Faculty
As part of the orientation programme for the sports, dance, and yoga faculty of The Brigade Schools, a specialised Karra Samu workshop was conducted by Master Krishna Kumar (fondly known as Master KK), Founder and Chief Instructor of the Institute of Wellness & Martial Arts, Bengaluru.
Spanning across 12 days — March 28, 29; April 1–4, 7–9; and May 27–29 — the workshop introduced teachers to the traditional martial art form Karra Samu, rooted in the rich heritage of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. This dynamic and immersive training not only strengthened the participants’ physical abilities but also deepened their understanding of India’s indigenous martial traditions.
Master KK, with over four decades of experience in martial arts, holds certifications in Taichi, Taekwondo, and Yoga. His holistic approach blends physical fitness, mindfulness, and cultural heritage, making the workshop an enriching experience for all.
The initiative aimed to equip faculty with the knowledge and skills to incorporate elements of martial arts into school programmes, emphasising discipline, agility, and cultural connection.
Drawing from what we’ve learnt during the workshop, we will present a short Karra Samu sequence as part of the Teacher Orientation Programme on 30 May 2025.
