Pre-primary Cultural Day – The Brigade School @ Malleswaram
The Brigade School, Malleswaram, took its pre-primary students on a delightful cultural journey to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana during the Cultural Day celebration held on 20 December 2025. The school campus was transformed into a vibrant visual canvas, reflecting the rich heritage of the two states through elaborate décor inspired by their intricate crafts, magnificent architecture, and colourful traditions.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome by the students, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. The Annual Report was presented by the Principal, Mr George Kutty Joseph, and the formal segment concluded with a Vote of Thanks by the students. The articulate comperes set an energetic tone, drawing the audience into a joyful celebration of Telugu culture.
One of the highlights of the event was the vibrant ramp walk, which brought out the grandeur of the Vijayanagara Empire. Children showcased cultural elements such as traditional musical instruments, Kondapalli toys, Tholu Bommalata shadow puppetry, Burrakatha storytelling, and folk traditions, including Kabaddi, Kuchipudi, and Dhimsa. The presentation beautifully blended the legacy of farmers and fishermen with a contemporary touch, reflecting the region’s cultural diversity.
The Nursery, LKG, and UKG students enthralled the audience with lively dance performances that captured the rhythm, colour, and spirit of the Telugu land. A charming skit by the UKG children transported the audience to the cheerful kingdom of Bondapalli, narrating the humorous tale of the accidental invention of the bonda and its role in bringing happiness and unity.
The energetic “Naatu Naatu” dance proved to be the grand finale, earning thunderous applause and repeated requests for an encore. The celebration was a fine example of teamwork and dedication, with teachers and students working tirelessly behind the scenes to bring the theme: Andhra Pradesh – The Essence of Incredible India and Telangana – It’s All in It.
