The Brigade Schools celebrated Yoga Day on a virtual platform, in the second year of the country’s “New Normal”!
International Yoga Day is observed annually to create awareness about yoga. The Brigade Schools believes Yoga is a meditative technique that helps to cleanse and heal the body in many different ways
Ms Bhavana Nijgal, Ms Monica Agarwal, and Mr Pratap Kumar, yoga teachers of The Brigade Schools performed Yoga Asanas to motivate children to keep fit and stay healthy. They brought home the fact that Yoga brings together physical and mental disciplines to achieve a peaceful body and mind. It also helps to manage stress, anxiety and provides relaxation. The asanas endorsed the fact that yoga increases flexibility, muscle strength, body tone and improves respiration, energy and vitality.
Students were asked to join their hands and chant the prayer in unison ‘Sahana Vavathu…Sahanau Bhunaktu…This prayer is a helpful tool to calm the mind, body and soul.
The students of grade seven were ready with their yoga mats and participated in the performance of various asanas shown by The Brigade School’s yoga gurus. Some of the asanas that the students of Std 7 performed were Vrikshasana, Ardha kati Chakrasana, Ardha Chakrasana, Padhasthasana, Kati Chakrasana and the Utkatasana.
All in all, The Brigade Schools reinforced the age-old precept: ‘Yoga is a way of living that aims towards a healthy mind in a healthy body’.
